Creating pieces of art using different mediums has always been a way to nurture and rejuvenate my restless Taurus spirit. When I was married and my children were in school full-time, I settled into making stained glass windows for my home, and then branched out to designing and selling windows to various business, and private clients around the Chicagoland area.
Soon, I found myself without the space to continue creating stained glass and downsized and began to incorporate my glasswork into mosaics. I have an insatiable appetite for learning new techniques that push the boundaries of my creativity and creating jewelry seems to be the natural progression of the passion I have for beauty.
My fascination with color and texture of stones is endless. I'm particularly fond of natural organic materials such as wood, shell, leaves, turquoise, bone, pearls, coral and semi-precious gemstones. All my findings are sterling. The leaves you see on many of my pieces are real leaves covered in sterling silver.
The creative process involved in something from the birth of the idea, finding the right materials, working with it, creating it until it is perfect, brings me a sense of accomplishment and peace. I have pride in specializing in one of a kind, artisan jewelry, and view my jewelry as pieces of art. I myself care not to see another, wearing a piece of art identical to that, which I have found to be unique to me.
I have found jewelry designing to be an incredibly relaxing, creative outlet that's totally separate from my "other life" as a Special Education teacher. Customers have asked on particular pieces what stones I have used? I answer...“I’m not sure but I like the colors”
