Dear Artist,

Your are invited to participate in Lemon Street Gallery’s art-making, fund-raising event, LemonAID ‘08!

Formerly know as Caged! Artists in Their Natural Habitat, LemonAID’08 promises to be our biggest event ever. This great ART day has been moved to Downtown Kenosha, where it will be a featured activity of Bloomin’ Days, a large community event. To compliment the new premier location, we selected the new name, LemonAID.

Participation details: On Saturday, June 7th up to 40 artists will arrive at the event grounds at 52nd Street and 6th Avenue near Kenosha’s harbor, between 9:00am and Noon where they will each create a painting or drawing for Lemon Street. We will provide each artist with a 24” x 36” stretched, primed canvas or cradled board, or a 22” x 30” sheet of watercolor paper. Artists will provide their own paints, brushes, and any other materials they will need to complete their art-piece. Lemon Street will provide snacks, meals and drinks. We are asking artists to complete their art-piece by 4:00pm that evening. At 5:00pm, a professional auctioneer will conduct a live auction of the works, the proceeds to benefit Lemon Street. Because of our new, more public venue, we expect large crowds. Participants are encouraged to enjoy the other activities offered at Bloomin’ Days, including live music, street acts, museums and Kenosha HarborMarket. If you bring friends, there will be plenty for them to do while you paint!

Lemon Street Gallery & Artspace, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to community arts education, and instituting arts initiatives that compliment the vital work of social service agencies. Our primary focus, however, continues as a visual artist’s resource, providing networking opportunities and professional opportunities for artists to exhibit and sell their work. Once each year we organize a fundraiser to help support our many endeavors. This is what LemonAID’08 is all about.

Awards to artists include: Viewers’ Choice Award and Participating Artists Award. Also, one artist whose work sells for the highest bid will be given the opportunity to have a month long solo exhibition in 2009.

The first artists, up to 40, to respond in writing by either post or e-mail, will take part in LemonAID‘08. We look forward to working with you. Thank you so much for your consideration!

Best Regards,
